"Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children, and live a life of love, just as Christ love us and gave Himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God." - Ephesians 5:1,2
We began a building. We offered our time and financial resources and our hands and feet and backs. Many Kenyans would questions us, "Why have you come all this way to do this?" And then we had a chance to share the Love that brought us there. And we worked side by side with Kenyan people. All of this time shared, and laughter shared, and songs and Scripture shared, all while working.
Friendships were made, and many of those friendships are maintained through prayers and letters. And as we worked together we learned how differently others approached problems, whether from a different culture or our own. We learned to live and work as a Christian community, and experienced what God can do through His people. We lived the lives of disciples of Jesus Christ. We worked to do so. And the example that we held out for examination was seen and appreciated by many in our Kenyan community; the pastor from the local church, the missionaries serving in the area, the Kenyan Young Life workers who lived with us, the nurses at the medical clinic, the Maasai tribeswomen, our cook and our night watchman...Many shared that our group--as a body of Christ--had impacted their lives and their faith.
