Summer 1996

Olgulului, Kenya
A diverse group of fifteen missionaries, which ranged from a family of five to a Kenyan Maasai who has been a part of IMPACT since the first trip, was welcomed by a small, rural community in southwest Kenya. The group teamed up with members of the Maasai Christian Youth Fellowship to build a 40' ´ 15' church sanctuary in Olgulului and evangelize to the unreached outlying bomas (villages). Although illnesses permeated the entire trip, great love and sharing developed between the Maasai and IMPACT members. God’s enduring presence was felt through His continual healing of the sick and incessant protection from harm. A farewell worship service and dedication of the newly completed church was attended by over 200, many of whom had been evangelized to by the IMPACT and MCYF team.
"...the Spirit was poured upon us from on high. In this parched, desolate land we could see that relationships
were the breath and life of existence."
Kenya team member

"We gave our lives and hearts and hands, and were given back ten-thousand times greater love and joy and friendship."
Philippines team member

"One big thing I learned is that people are people wherever you go. They have the same potential and desire that I have...I enjoyed the experience so much that it hurts to think that I may never see those people again. You never know, though. I thank you for helping me to have the opportunity to go and for your support while I was gone..."
Philippines team member

Xpujil, Mexico
Thirteen missionaries partnered with some of the Christian men of Xpujil, a cross-roads village on the Yucatán Peninsula, to construct a multi-purpose building for the community to teach and worship in. Together they dug trenches, laid rock foundations and raised the block walls. The IMPACT team prayed with the workers before starting each morning and shared lunch at the pastor’s house in the afternoons. The group built relationships in the community by walking and playing in the neighborhood. Salvation bracelets were shared with many people, including soldiers at the local military base who made an unprecedented gesture of friendship when they invited the team to play soccer with them! God’s faithfulness, grace and protection were revealed through answers to many prayers and through the "impact" on the community of Xpujil.

Rotaryville, Philippines
A team of ten missionaries spent two weeks in Rotaryville, a small neighborhood of 70 or so 15' ´ 15' block houses two hours outside of Metro-Manila. The team joined a local hired crew to build more houses at this Habitat for Humanity project. They moved blocks, mixed concrete with shovels and carried it in buckets and helped with the construction, all in over 90 degree heat and close to unbearable humidity. Entire families moved out of their houses to provide rooms for the IMPACT members. Every morning the team met with the villagers to learn about the spiritual presence of the Lord in the Philippines through worship, scripture and testimonies. Each team member was touched by the openly expressed love of the people. God used this trip to teach the team courage, trust and faith in His power and His love.
