China 2003
The China team traveled to Yunnan Province, working under the experienced leadership of two teachers who lived and worked in Kunming for two years. They were officially invited to work with an organization to tutor and teach "English teaching skills" to Chinese teachers of English in a small, rural community. The 55 teachers, and some of the family members of education officials, were enthusiastic students, greatly appreciating the friendships they made with our 7 team members. There was time for teaching square dancing, seeing Chinese ethnic dancing, going to parks and cities in the area. Two members of the team who are medical professionals, were able to do some work in the city of Kunming, and also traveled to visit a community of many people with Leprosy.
Uganda 2003
The Uganda team of 6 youth and 3 adults served with our friends in Jinja, Uganda, on Lake Victoria. There was much work in completing construction on a school complex in the village. The team spent time with village children, worshipped with new African friends. They were welcomed into the home of George and Stella and their family for this incredible four week stay. Team members will always remember their visits to encourage and minister to house bound aids patients. They were also able to take a raft trip up the Nile River!
Honduras 2003
The Honduras team worked with Scripture Union Ministries, presenting Bible lessons in 10 different public or private schools and daycare centers in rural and suburban Honduras. The presentations in schools, both formal and informal, were done in both English and Spanish, through puppets, music, crafts and outdoor games. We spent time worshipping and playing sports with Honduran Youth from two different churches, and spent much time in the homes our Honduran friends and partners in ministry. This was our second year of service with the people of Siguatepeque, and we are invited to return in 2004!
