Siguatepeque, Honduras
Project: The team worked in the highlands of Honduras, with Orlando Japas of Union Biblica (Scripture Union). Impact was invited this year to join UB staff in construction of a dormitory at the “Cerro de Luz” Christian camp (located in the pine trees…where our team would stay!) We were also invited to share the gospel through music, drama, and crafts with school children in the cities and in rural areas.
Lupeni, Romania
Project: Impact team worked with VIATA, a ministry to youth in this mountain village of Straja, Romania. VIATA serves to help build a sense of community and hope for better life in this former economically depressed area, where people seek work, basic needs, and a vision for the future. Team worked to support a summer camp for middle school aged children, where they are taught outdoor skills, rock and rope climbing, and Christian values. There was also some painting and maintenance work to help improve the camp. They worked with Romanian staff in this ministry.
Ecuador, South America (near Quito)
Project: Our teaml worked with a new local partner, HCJB (World Radio Ministries) who have a long established, good relationship with local government and people of this country. Many ministry was involved in many opportunities , including light to moderate construction, working with local churches in outreach to the homeless and street children, working with a community at the City Dump ministry. There was also an opportunity in doing community development work among the Huaroni people in the Amazon headwaters.
